Neem soap is a wonderful ayurvedic product that is beneficial in skin related complaints. Most neem soaps have pure neem oil as their base. In some cases the neem oil as well neem leaves are used in its production. This is a winning combination in neem soap making as it means the soap retains all the essential properties of neem. Pure neem oil and neem leaves have antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. It is the antimicrobial qualities of neem that underscores neem soap’s excellence as a remedy for skin complaints.

Neem soap is commonly used as a treatment to clear up acne and acne scars. Some acne treatments are pretty harsh and drying to the skin. But Neem soap for acne gently cleanses the skin without stripping away natural oils. Added ingredients combine with neem to also soothe, moisturize, tone and leave the skin aglow. (See also Neem -A Cheap Natural Acne Treatment).

The soap works deep within the pores of the skin to remove fungi, parasites and germs. The medicinal value of neem soaps is useful in other skin problems such as rashes, eczema, cuts, abrasions, boil and psoriases. It is also helpful in treating lice and dandruff. In this regard it is regarded as safe for use on humans and pets.

Neem soap is a great alternative to the direct use of pure neem oil. Apart from the fact that neem soaps contain the same useful properties of pure neem oil, the smell factor is largely more tolerable than in the case of the latter. Pure neem oil has a rather unpleasant odor. Although this forms the base for neem soaps the smell is not an issue in the soaps because other ingredients such as essential oils or fragrant oils are usually added to mask the strong neem scent and enhance the overall effective quality of the soap. Even if the neem odor is detected, which is usually subtle in neem soaps anyway, it generally does not linger after the soap is washed or rinsed from the skin.

In order to ensure that one gets maximum benefits from neem soaps it is important to purchase the right kind. The quality of neem soaps vary depending on the manufacturing process which most times dictate the neem oil content. Neem soaps containing about 20% neem oil are sufficiently strong for treating skin ailments. Sometimes the neem oil content can be as high as 30% – 40%, but cannot go much higher as the soap will have too oily a base. There are quite a few neem soaps on the market, but the handcrafted neem soaps generally guarantee that you will receive a more natural and superior variety of the product. For information purposes several neem soaps that appear to be of good quality are margo neem soap, limda neem soap, and dabur neem soap. So for great looking skin go right ahead and avail yourselves of neem soaps and shop around for the bargains.

Does Revitol stretch mark cream work as it is advertised? I’ve been on a quest to find a stretch mark cream to remove stretch marks for sometime now. Having checked out the entry on this site about whether Trilastin System 2 removes stretch marks, and not seeing anyone reply, it leads me to doubt the effectiveness of that solution. So I want to focus here on the Revitol product on the market for stretch marks.

I want to be fair to the product, which in this case is Revitol Stretch Mark Cream. It wouldn’t be right to expect it to do something that it is not said to do. Therefore, I will highlight here what effects you can expect to get from using the product, according to Revitol.

The first thing to note is that the primary use advertised is that of prevention. The Revitol stretch mark cream is supposed to primarily prevent stretch marks. While pregnant women seem to be the main target audience for this cream, I would expect that it should still function in a similar manner for those who are prone to developing stretch marks, such as adolescents and body builders.

Now although prevention is what is stressed for what the cream is good for, it is also claimed that this cream is good for treating already existing stretch marks. However, unlike other products on the market, it is stated quite explicitly that it will not remove stretch marks completely. Here is a quotation from Revitol:

“A great product, such as our Stretch Mark Prevention cream, will significantly diminish the appearance of stretch marks, but we cannot guarantee they will be gone completely”

Fair enough. In judging this product, we should not expect that it will totally eradicate existing stretch marks. However, if it significantly diminishes the appearance of stretch marks, then that means there should clearly be a noticeable difference in using this product.

I submit that the basis on judging Revitol stretch mark prevention cream, is not so much on whether it prevents stretch marks, but on whether it really reduces existing stretch marks to any great extent. The reason why I would use this as the focal point in evaluating the product, as opposed to what it is primarily advertised as, is that it is really difficult to tell whether it did prevent stretch marks. For the fact that you are pregnant, does not mean that you will develop stretch marks without the aid of creams. Therefore, using the cream and finding that you did not develop stretch marks does not conclusively show that the cream worked, as there was a chance anyway that you would not have acquired stretch marks.

Revitol Stretch Mark Cream comes with a money back guarantee. However, as at the time of writing this, the conditions for which this applies were not clearly spelt out in the policy details. Hopefully this will soon be corrected.

Now I have not used Revitol stretch mark cream, and I do not know anyone who has. But I put this call out for any who has any experience with this product, to share your experience. I want this place to be for honest feedback. Affiliate links will not be allowed in any replies to this.

Can grey hair even be reversed? The answer is a most definite yes. I know for certain because I have observed this with my own hair.

I’m still young (early 30s) but I have a lot of gray hair, though not very noticeable without close inspection. Nevertheless, it has bothered me that I’m going grey so fast. I therefore did some research to see if I could reverse what I would consider premature graying, which raised my hopes that there was a possibility to delay further greying, and even reverse some. I took some action and I did observe at least one gray hair reverse color. I know it reversed because I could see that it was black at the root but gray at the end. I’ll go into more details on what I did, and the results I got. But let me share some of the research I found on this subject.

What causes gray hair?

Hair follicles contain pigment cells which are responsible for giving color to your hair. These pigment cells are called melanocytes. As you age, they slow down until they totally stop working to produce color. This results in gray hair. The length of time for which the melanocytes continue to fully function is said to be hereditary. That is, the age at which you are likely to go gray is hereditary.

So if one of your parents went gray early, there is a strong chance that you will too (depending on whether you inherited the gene or genes responsible for the hair coloring cells from this parent). In my case, my father went gray quite early, so it seems I inherited this early graying from him.

Although it is expected that the melanocytes will eventually stop working as you get older, there are things that may contribute to premature failure of these cells, causing you to go grey ahead of time. The following are linked to premature gray hair:

Thyroid disorders

Smoking cigarettes

Deficiency in vitamin B-12

Early menopause

Lack of copper

Lack of zinc

Weak kidney (Eastern medicine has long cited this as a cause for grey hair)

Excess build up of hydrogen peroxide (see http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/29468796/?GT1=43001)

Stress (this is a factor because one uses more of the minerals and vitamins necessary to preserve hair colour when under stress)

From the above, we can see that there are some things we can do to prevent premature gray hair, if not reverse the trend. For eg. Ensuring adequate vitamin B12 intake, along with sufficient copper and zinc, probably would help. If you smoke, then ceasing this practice may also slow down the graying process. Managing your stress is another thing you can take charge of.

Remedies said to Reverse Gray hair or slow its Formation

I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of any of these, but many have reported success using one of the following:

Indian gooseberry also known as Amla. Some believe it is more preventative rather than curative. See Reverse Gray Hair Naturally for possible directions on how to use.

Bee pollen. Again, this might more preserve natural hair colour than reverse gray hair.

Blackstrap molasses. This is highly recommended by many, but others report no effect after taking it for up to 7 months. It is also said to strengthen the blood and kidneys. You might want to get some professional advice regarding taking this, as some feel it can cause kidney stones because of the calcium content. However there are things you can take with it to ameliorate this risk. Consult a doctor or nutritional professional to find out more on this.

The herb Polygonum Multiflorum also called He Shou Wu. This may also have adverse side effects if not used in the right way, such as depression. Therefore you might also want to consult with a medical practitioner before you start using. At least do your research.

Certain kinds of shampoo. More about this can be found at Gray Hair Shampoo

It is rumoured that the company Loreal has patents for certain solutions that will reverse gray hair. Time will tell. However, note that the popular story about a drug they developed called “Promel” that is purported to reverse grey hair is false.

Now I did mention that I have actually witnessed my own hair reversing colour going from gray to its natural colour, and I promised I would give more details on what I did and the results I got. When I initially did my research on this subject, I learnt about the important vitamins and minerals necessary for continual production of hair color. So I discovered that B12 and basically the whole B complex vitamins factored highly. I also read that paba is also necessary.

I therefore shopped for some B complex vitamins that contained paba. I started taking these. I also tried to eat an egg on most days, as I read that egg is a source of paba. Anyway, I did this for several weeks, often examining certain grey hairs to see if there was any change. After about 6 weeks, I did notice one particular grey hair begin to revert to it’s natural colour. I confess I am not absolutely sure if others reversed, though I do suspect a few others did.

My vitamins eventually finished, and I had some difficulty finding the same kinds, so I wasn’t able to keep this process up. I stopped being so concerned about my gray hair so have not actively been pursuing ways to reverse it. However, I believe I will be trying some of the purported solutions which I have referred to above. If and when I do, I will report back on the results I get. If you have any success or failure experiences of your own with any of these, please also report here so others can benefit.

This entry is part 3 of 3 in the series Natural Acne Treatments For Fast Results

I was doing some research on hair products and bought this hair oil that did wonders for my hair. I took note of the ingredients and did a bit of research on each one. The ingredient that really got my attention though was neem oil because I never knew about it before then.

Based on my research I gathered that it was the ingredient largely responsible for my satisfactory hair results. But I also learnt that neem was also useful for acne and skin infections. And so when I was online looking for hair products I came across neem powder packaged in a box. The actual name of the product is Hesh Naturoriche Neem Tone Powder. The write up introduced it as an ayurvedic blend that cures skin allergies, removes acne, acne spots and cures prickly heat. It was also said to add a glow to the skin. Neem soap is also available, but my experience is with the powder.

I had good results using the oil in my hair so I was eager to try the powder on my skin to see if I would get excellent results as well. I bought the powder. The results were exceptional. It worked just as well, better actually than the apple cider vinegar, as it was not as drying (a moisturizer is still needed).

In a few days the acne pimples began to disappear and it really did clear up the old acne scars too. They also were not joking about the glow to the skin, which was also evident. All one has to do is to take a small amount of the powder and add plain or rose water (I used plain water) to make a paste which should then be applied over the entire face and left on for about 20 minutes or until dry.

The face should then be rinsed off carefully with warm water and then cold water. Dry and apply your moisturizer of choice. I did this daily. It is now October 2009 and this remedy has been working well for me. I however now apply the paste every other day.

This remedy is also relatively inexpensive. I purchased a 100g box online for $3.49. This does not include shipping and handling. Indian groceries may stock this product and I believe one could get it for less than the online price. And of course there would be no shipping or handling fees to contend with. The 100g box lasted for about four months with regular use. I highly recommend this to any individual searching for a cheap, natural effective solution to their acne problem. Try it; you will not likely be disappointed

This entry is part 2 of 3 in the series Natural Acne Treatments For Fast Results

In the latter part of 2008 I began scouring the net for cheap home remedies for acne. I read some information on the use of apple cider vinegar, which was to be diluted and applied to the face for a few minutes and then rinsed off.

I tried this one night, but ignored the part about diluting the solution. I also kept it on my face overnight and rinsed it off the next morning. I was pleased with the results. It appeared to have the effect of reducing the size of the pimples. I did this for a few days and I noticed that the pimples disappeared then. This became a nightly ritual for me and the results were generally pleasing.

There were drawbacks though. I found the apple cider vinegar very drying to my face so if one is going to use it then it must be followed up with a good moisturizer. Also, overtime it appeared to be a bit too harsh for my face, but this may have been because I was applying it undiluted. So there were a couple nights when I would forgo the treatment. Whenever I did this, the pimples would instantaneously reappear, albeit fewer in number.

This became my treatment of choice until around April 2009 when I discovered another remedy.

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Natural Acne Treatments For Fast Results

Acne is a skin infection characterized by pimples and blackheads. The area of the skin most vulnerable to acne appears to be the face. Acne also sometimes appears on the upper back and chest regions. This skin disease is not life threatening, but it can seriously damaging to a person’s confidence and self-esteem as acne pimples and scars, particularly facial acne, can be very unsightly and unattractive. For this reason many individuals spend a lot of money on products that claim to be acne solutions. And I am not here to put down the effectiveness of any product. All I will say is that there are cheaper, more natural remedies out there that are sometimes more effective than the chemical based solutions.

I should know because I have spent money in the past trying to cure my acne or at the very least get it to a tolerable stage. This was so important to me at the time because I took a fancy to this guy who told me that he was very superficial and that looks were very important to him. While I will not elaborate much on how that eventually turned out, I will only say that his statement alone was the start of major issues that had a devastating effect on my life. But I digress. In 2006 I visited a dermatologist and needless to say the expense was a bit too much plus I had to be applying too many topical creams and taking capsules, which I really hated. Not long after I gave up on that and pretty much decided for the next two years to ride out the acne train and deal with the flare ups when they occurred.

As someone who has been getting way too many gray hairs way too early, I started doing some research on how to slow this down, or even reverse it altogether. As I was looking around, I started to read stuff about shampoo for gray hair. Here I just want to share a little of what I’ve learnt about this stuff.

My first thoughts when I started reading up on shampoo for grey hair, was is it that the shampoo helps reverse or slow down the graying? Or is it that the shampoo makes the gray hairs look and feel better (ie. basically taking care of the hair)? Or is it that the shampoo colours the hair so that the greys become less noticeable?

As it turns out, they have shampoos that cater to all three questions that came to mind. However, for the first question, I don’t think they actually claim reversal of the greying. Some do claim a delay in the graying process though. If you are interested in reversing gray hair to its natural colour, you might be interested in this article on how to reverse gray hair.

It is said that omega 3 can penetrate the hair follicles, and does help to preserve the natural hair colour. So if you still have non-gray hair, you could try looking for shampoo with omega 3.

One shampoo that I learnt about which is supposed to help preserve your natural hair color is Emu shampoo. Please note that I am not trying to sell anything here, and I do not really know how effective this shampoo is. But if you’ve tried it, or you decide you will try it, please report back here and tell how it worked for you. Share your experiences so that others can benefit too.

Are you one of the many fat women who wants to lose weight? Well you’ve come to the right place. I’m going to give you some very simple, but effective instructions, that if followed, will bring you down to size and have you losing weight quickly, and even keeping it off. Guys, don’t worry, this will work for you too, so keep on reading.

before my simple weight loss steps

Ok, first thing. Just forget all those schemes and programmes and diets you see advertised especially in infomercials. All you really need to do is stop eating and drinking. That’s right, stop eating and drinking. At least for a day.

What this does is cause your stomach to shrink so that you’ll feel full for eating less. Make sure you don’t over eat after you’ve gone to the trouble of shrinking the stomach. So when you begin to feel full, stop eating. Because you’ll end up eating less, you’ll tend to lose weight.

Once you’ve followed the above instructions, repeat it maybe a week later. Just make it a regular interval until you’re satisfied with the results. So stop eating again for at least a day (ie. 24 hours), then eat amounts to match the reduced size of your stomach.

As your stomach gets smaller, you’ll realise that you don’t have too much space to spare, so you’ll need to make sure that what you eat counts. In other words, you’ll find that you better eat nutritious stuff, otherwise you’ll get full on fluff, and find your health deteriorating.

Ok that’s it. Follow my method and you’ll lose the fat. You can speed things up by combining this procedure with some exercise. You’ll definitely lose weight when you do these things, and morph into the nice body you desire.

after my simple weight loss steps

The root is used in the treatment of a host of ailments and is reputed to be one of the best blood purifiers around. It rapidly purges the blood of toxins. Liberal consumption of the tea will clear almost any skin disease. Burdock is one of the chief herbs used in treating gout, rheumatism, syphilis, gonorrhea, canker sores and leprosy.

Burdock, like chickweed, is also a diuretic. Although in my experience there was no significant increase in urine flow. It is reputed to be excellent at reducing flesh. I must admit that I have not noticed this effect. But then again I was not consuming it for this purpose, neither did I have excessive pounds to shed. Nonetheless, those who are extremely overweight may consider including burdock in their weight loss regimen, as it may assist in getting them to their weight loss goals faster.

Tea made from the herb is soothing and is excellent for almost any type of internal inflammation. In fact it is touted to be a remedy for some cancer complaints. The tea or a poultice of the herb is also used externally to clear up skin eruptions and diseases.

I can recall an incident some years ago that triggered my view of chickweed as a miracle herb. I had noticed that a small area of skin below my right knee had the appearance of some fungal infection. My mother had prepared some chickweed tea earlier that day and I remembered her always saying that chickweed was great for skin problems. So I went and drained a bit of the chickweed from the tea she had prepared and placed it on the infected spot. I covered it with a band aid. Several hours later I removed the band aid and the chickweed. Lo and behold, the appearance of the skin was normal. No hint at all of any fungal infection. Miraculous results!

This herb may be a bit of an annoyance to some, as it is a diuretic, and a mild laxative, meaning consumption of this herb will see you making more frequent trips to the bathroom. But take comfort in knowing that it is a process that is ridding your body of toxins. Chickweed is a must have for every home
